Building a photo platform that allows people to effortlessly share photos to a central repository. This needed to be something people would use instead of sending photos via email or text.
PicMe stands out from the crowd of photo sharing apps by being incredibly versatile and having the potential to be widely used. Its easy-to-use features meet the needs and preferences of all kinds of users.
The possible applications for this product are endless. PicMe encourages the use of their product at any event or occasion, from weddings to sporting events, concerts to birthday parties. Having a central repository for the photos taken my multiple attendees increases the enjoyment and memory of the event.
Iterating through multiple prototypes, we landed on a simplistic approach. Rather than overwhelming the visitors with copy which often gets overlooked, we opted to show a photo array of event possibilities and short headings for each step to set it up for the first time.
Part of the appeal of PicMe was its friendly aura and simple-to-use interface. Keeping with this playfulness, I developed a set of AI images that would convey those playful feelings.
Let's face it, asking for photos from others isn't the most difficult thing but gathering them from multiple sources and then compiling them together is just not enjoyable. PicMe removes the hassle of taking photos from your texts and then saving them into another location.
This reduction in time on task makes it a delight to use PicMe. We didn't want the focus to be on the app itself, but how you manage and enjoy your memorable photos.
An experience doesn't need to involve a lot of bells and whistles. After all, it's the feelings that one experiences that become memorable. Emotional attachment to something is a strong bond to break, customers that feel that connection will return.
The user base is all-inclusive. Anyone that has a phone or wants to take and share photos is a potential user. We wanted this to be a universal app and we achieved that by making the interfact as minimal as possible and letting the experience lead the way.
